Just out of sheer curiosity, has anyone here ever designed a submarine like these?

I must admit I've taken a look through the US Subs site now and then.... I've been known to sketch an idea or ten along those lines ;-)
Pricey, though.... waaaay pricey.

Do the sesame seeds create turbulence that leads to underwater drag, or do they instead cause the formation of air pockets that decrease wetted surface and thereby increase speed. If the latter, I'll take mine with the sesame seeds (denture problems be d**ned!)

They work like the hairs on a dolfin, breaking up the boundry layer for increased speed (of digestion).
