UN designed boats--Dept. of Fisheries

I do not know where I found these designs for 4 boats sized 5.2m, 6.3m, 7.4m, 8.5m but I'm posting them as some might wish to build one of these. Plans are very complete-all frames drawn out and all connections drawn out. Also complete material lists, how to widen beam, very thorough. Inboard, or outboard or row. ENJOY.

Sure...they have been around a while. Nice boats and nice construction details. Great boats for low power home builders.

The 7 & 8 meter boats have drawing errors or they are for floating in 16" 0f water. 700 K boat carries only 400 K of cargo ??

Several years ago there were some detailed experiments to determine the most practical sail types for various boats common in third world economies. I think that it was this same agency who sponsored that research.

In the 3megbyte 77pg download they seem to show both multi-planked bottom and plywood construction, or it is planks THEN plywood?

Too bad they don't have a plan for lee-boards to make it a proper sailer.

The "emergency sail" and "shelter for crew" use of the same tarp is sort of what I had in mind for my all purpose mini-motor sailor sport and work boat, except I was also thinking of a tarp suspended much higher for comfortable head room during rain.
how about a 25hp outboard on a planing sailing dingy?

The date says 2004/2005 for revision 2 and 1997 original but I believe these plans are older than that.

I do agree, very seaworthy small boats, working with very little power. The 8.5m can work with a small chinese diesel like the Changfa of 10 HP, thus the boat is very economical for coastal fishing with a useful speed. These boats can also be made without mold from polyester plates. (the placoplastic system).

These boats originated in the sixties and have had a long evolution. Another boat was designed from a small Philippine fishing boat and that became the panga, very common in Latin America, as Yamaha diffused the plans for cheap construction in polyester (Inmemsa in Mexico and Eduardoño in Colombia made thousands of them) and Yamaha sold thousands of 2 Stroke outboards of the Enduro line...

Surely you won't never be a NA in any place. Your comment shows that you have not any knowledge of the subject...look again at the boats and their purpose, and use your brain. Happily øyvind Gulbrandsen is a true NA.
