I recently achieved a 1.50m interceptor full carbon with a friend, with twin petrol engines and surface drives. We hit 90km/h last week, during its last speed test. You need cat's eyes to follow her on the lake.....! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She cannot be really called "yacht", but for sure she is RC ![]()

You could make a nice experiment with that missile. All that water centrifuged upwards is a waste of energy. You could install a properly shaped plate above the prop to direct the water downwards and convert the otherwise wasted energy to thrust.

Each time somebody tried to get that tail down, there was a trouble in propeller proper ventilation. Original interceptor is exactly the same : ![]() Model propulsion is done with surface piercing props, but with rudders. It was not possible to achieve a directional surface drive at that size and for that amount of power. ![]() I was in my previous job R&D Engineer for these surface piercing props and drive system (real ships, not model ) - Sometimes things were not working the intuitive way... |

Not sure what you mean here. I like the flying tri. I think a larger scale version of this would be fun to fly. If you do not want to try Doug then there are heaps of clips on Youtube of fast RC sailing craft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=al2JDpWPt6E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wez3W...eature=related Something more adventurous: http://yachtpals.com/sailrocket-sail-rocket-4021 http://www.macquarie.com.au/speedsailing/gallery.htm

Ultimate RC yacht. You need to be much more definite. What do you think that an ultimate yacht would do? Would it be the fastest yacht round a set course? Would it be the fastest in a staight line? Would it have to sail in a swirling wind? Would it have to cope with sea conditions? If you do not set some goals how can you decide whether the outcome is the ultimate yacht? Ivor Bittle

the fastest around the course so i was thinking an asymmetric spinnaker canting keel and carbon fibre construction a flying try would be sweet like the mini 40's i was just wondering if anyone had any designs that could be modified and changed to suit the short and simple brief
