Trim tabs for a heavy boat

After comparing the other posts on this board and on the Powerboat board, I'm wondering if I've posted in the wrong place. I'm looking for advice on whether or not to use tabs and, if so, determining their dimensions and placement. Should I repost on the other board, or am I in the right place?

Can ayone offer advice or direct me to information on designing trim-tabs for a slow, heavy boat? I have a Navy 26' X 9' Personnel Boat MK6 with a v-drive and a 6v53 jimmy. I'm not unhappy with the performance, and would not consider engine swaps or anything drastic like that.

If I could improve the performance and/or economy by adding tabs, that would be a fun project for my Winter haul-out. (Even if we don't really have a winter in Ventura Harbor )
