transom door help

i am working on a 1970 25 foot trojan center console fishing boat i am in the process of replacing the sole and buliding a new center console. the boat has a single chevy 350 inboard engine w/transmission. i would like to add a transom or fish door. as far as i can tell the transom is not very thick might just be laid up with glass and no wood might be wrong. i will need to drill a hole and get a core sample. either way is it possible to add a transom door? if need i will send a pic.

thank you
jeffrey

Yeah, Maybe

By all means, send the photo(s) We'd like to see how the transom looks at rest and when powered up with regards to waterline.

You can add the door if it does not sacrifice hull integrity of construction at that point. Could very well mean that you will need additional structural elements.

thanks for the fast reply, here are a few pics before any work has been done. you might need some update pics if so i will get some this week end. i plan to do away with the live wells in the rear. i would like to do without the outer shell and just have the trasom the deck is really low and my plans are to rase the deck about 8 inches. if i do this from the top of the sole to the top of the sides of the boat will be 3.5 feet. with this being done i should be able to hide the rudder under the floor. let me know what you think
