| Transom Bracket I have a 25' Sport-Craft Center Counsel with twin 150 Mercury EFI's. I would like to install a transom bracket but have doubts if it will affect it negatively. Here is some info on the boat: Motors weigh 450lbs each Top speed - 53 mph RPM's: 5400 It planes very quickly with the trim tabs. My reason for the change is that it has a cutout transom which allows a lot of water on the deck when fishing offshore. I think with a bracket that has a platform, it would cut that down tremendously. I would like to move the livewell under the leaning post to open up the rear deck space. The boat rides great now and I can not imagine the performance being that much better. I am concerned about the way it will sit when anchored and cruise at slow speeds. Will the weight of the motors being setoff the transom another 24 - 29" cause these problems? I also have a hard time believing that the bouancy of the bracket will compensate for this. Any info will be greatly appreciated!! |

| I would have thought that a full width watertight bulkhead installed just forward of the motors (i.e. functionally, an oversize outboad motor splash well), properly scuppered, plus new scuppers added forward of the new bulkhead, would do the job cheaper, quicker, and better. It would probably be a more seamanlike solution than the brackets with the added weight aft. Tony. |
