Power or sail or a combination?

A little more information on what you want to do, where, and with who might get you more informative answers quicker......

For instance besides the "build or buy?" and "power or sail?" questions there are numerous options. If power; inboard or outboard, internal combustion, external combustion, or electric power? If sail types available range from fat catboats to deep and narrow traditional cutters, or centerboarders, the canoe yawl type, or something else.

for some reason I always assumed confucius was built outta plywood

does anybody have the benford book "pocket cruisers and tabloid yachts" and know if the plans allow for "happy" to be built out of lumber planks? I know the original was built cold molded
