Are there catamarans with glass bottom salon? If not, can one be made (with Schoinning Line Honours)? Or there's structure integrity violation?

What would be the motivation for building a window into the deck? Perhaps it would be easier to put a clear spot into the weave of the tramp?

just the pleasure of viewing fishes below with the convenience of being within the salon. I've always enjoyed looking at an aquarium. So something like this is like having an aquarium on a boat; only it's a big one ![]()

Are there catamarans with glass bottom salon? There are a couple up in Queensland (up from NSW) I believe doing tours of the Great Barrier Reef. No doubt one of our Queensland members can confirm. ![]()

Cutting a circular hole and installing a circular SS ring to maintain structural integerty sounds very possible.

I saw a pontoon house boat being built here last year that cut a hole in the wing deck (floor of house) between the floats and enclosed the hole with a glass-topped table assembly. They could eat dinner and watch the fish at the same time. Make the glass top removable and you could fish from your living room.

Doesn't the American Navy have one in Hawaii (Pearl!) Whoops here we go again 1774 all over again! Incidentally most dive ships these days (I'm talking ships not boats) have a hole through the middle called a "moonpool" through which they drop diving bells and the like! same Idea? Just bigger!

Like the saying goes... "You can make a barn door fly if you put a big enough engine on it!" You CAN definitely make something strong enough if you put enough structure into it. However, if you are talking about under the bridgedeck... one little issue... It doesn't take salt spray long to totally cloud the window. It would probably be an eyesoar more often than a blessing and cleaning would be a royal b!#%^

| who's in the fish bowl now? How about one of those escape hatches that are below the waterline for capsized multis. At least you'd be able to see the fish!
