I'll ask Guillermo. According to my research the literal meaning is mirror, but it may be construed as spyglass.

After ample time to test and make minor improvements, adding a 3rd planing surface(hull) between the original 2 is the only way to improve the speed of this boat. Thanks to all, but especially messabout, for the excellent, invaluable advice.

Be a good time to add a couple of foils... :)

I thought about that but don't know how to do one right so a planing surface between the 2 hulls seems the simpler option that I am capable of doing. :)

I was thinking in addition to but whatever you're comfortable with.

    I don't recognize the lake. Should I?

BTW, Thanks. Always good to get a chuckle. :)

I took the picture on the Hillsborough River. It was T-shirt weather. The water was warm enough to wade in without discomfort. Flowers were blooming. :)

The flowers are blooming here in Canada, too. Of course they need a little help and in our case they had something to do with Valentine's Day. I'm just jealous - take no notice of the mutterings from up North . . ..

We've got flowers coming out here!

    ***** willows are out.

Haven't even had snow yet this winter!

I like to shovel the driveway once, it reminds me of my childhood.

    Enjoy your oasis there Hoyt.

You know, there are quality hydrofoils for free at your nearby airport that would be just right for your set up...

Just lost all my text I'd written you... Arg!

I acquired a pair of tail rotors from a Bell Jet Ranger and a complete set of rotors from a Robertson R22 for free.

They are worth about $100, 000 new but after 2200 hours must be replaced and are worthless to the aircraft industry.

The main rotors make good struts to mount the cambered tail rotors on.

A pair up front and a pair aft would be more than enough with your 9.9

You may even get away with one forward and one aft it all depends on your weight, velocity and thrust.

Or forget about the boat and only use the rotor as in the Rotor-Craft RH-1 Pinwheel

    Cheers,

The Bell tail rotor doesn't have any camber. Most tail rotors don't. They'd make good struts too but you're limited in length.

The Robertson main has a twist in it but there are straight sections that could be cut out and used as struts.

It is a NACA 63-015 profile while the tail is a NACA 63-415.

Metal honey comb inside with stainless exterior.

    Some photos of mine.

    1. Bell tail left, R22 right.

    2. Bell top, R22 bottom

    3. R22 main (7.4" chord)

    4. R22 main, you can see the 8 degree twist in the length of it (maybe).

Thanks for the great idea! I live within walking distance of an air-park. I shall investigate that option.
