Probably not so different the methods they used. Just we have understood them different (or not completely?)

On one of Discovery channels Titanic specials concerning the hull's failure mode, they had pictures of the hull under construction (or the sister ship).
It was stated that pneumatic hammers were used as much as possible but the bow area had to be done by hand as the very large pneumatic hammers could not be placed into position.

And the lesson was, don't use cheap rivets to try and save a dollar/pound or two.

the discovery channel is just a tv channel who survive on commercial.
i will not take a tv show as a source.
the lesson is don't watch cheap tv show to save a dollar/beer by not going out with ladies.
