stepped hulls

is there an exact science as to the location of the steps in a stepped hull? for instance in a high speed catamaran hull. I'm sure it is more involved than just an educated guess, but is their a formula for figuring it out or just general guidelines? thanks

Suggest you get a copy of Eugene Clements booklet (Email address was Eclement5@aol.com) on stepped hulls and or get a copy of Pro Boat from this time last year.

thanks, I will do that, but I am not sure what you are refering to "a copy of pro boat". Is that professional boatbuilding magazine or ? thanks again.

Do a search here under "Powerboats" or "Boat design"; there is a long and informative thread on stepped hulls.
