| stepped bottom boat. el lagarto race boat from 1930's has a stepped bottom design, her steps are 3-4ft apart with only 3/4 inch drop at the end of each step, it's not like some boats i see with just one big step in the middle of the boat which drops about 3-4 inchs. is there a problem with turning with a stepped bottom? and does it make your boat faster? any advise?  |

| You may be interested in learning something about Eugene Clements' stepped designs using very small steps. Here is a booklet he wrote that may be helpful:
