I Just Bought A Bertram 58' 1982. The Stern Ladder Is Extremely Uncomfortable For Older People To Get In The Boat. I Am Thinkink Of Desigining A Fiber Glass Ladder That Will Take Some Space Of The Closet And The Main Stateroom Below. Will This Weaken The Structure Of The Stern? Has Someone Done A Design Like That?

This sort of modification isn't particularly difficult, but should be preformed by someone with the experience to replace structural elements that might be compromised in the process. Contact a designer or well regarded boat carpenter.
