Before or after the addition of the extra weight...or are you comparing the now and then (the roll period then and the "doesn't snap roll" now?)?

PS: I'll do a bit more research...(From "The nature of boats"(Starting at pg 105 "Heave Ho")...invest... it is a good buy!)

I'm pretty sure the 6 seconds was after adding the wieght. If memory serves, the increase in period (before/after) was minimal (less than 1 second if my crude measurements/process was accurate).
