Sportfish Carbon command pod/tower Trying to develop a more modern design for a small sportfish elevated command pod... the hull is 26 ft with projected final weights under 5000 lbs powered with a Steyr 210 HP with a 2-1 zf gears.. I am trying to get an elevated view without drastic effect on CoG.... I have the hull in 3d image hopefully i can attach.. I am trying to come up with sketches but im not much of an artist...I can visualize it clearly in my mind but transcribing to paper is another story in itself.. I have been running different sportfishers up to 74 feet for more than 15 years and have a excellent grasp of everyday maintenance/operations. I also have had the pleasure of being involved with a few custom builds from the East Coast so I might have a light grasp of the process... I have some pretty radical ideas/concepts that dont seem to fit the mainstream but would like to put them into effect on my own little rig. Any artist, designers, architects, engineers interested in discussing this further plz post back to me.... willing to take care of those who take care of me...

Further description (round 1) As this is a small boat, I am trying to design it around having a 3 man/fishing team on board. I would like to elevate the operator off the deck for better visibility. At the same time providing the shade for the 2 other crew.(needs about 7' height clearance) The podium will also act as the air intake/water separator for the engine compartment. To be rather simple n crude = this should look like one of the blower intakes off a top fuel dragster crossed with a StarTrek helm station. Another point that needs to be made is the fact that in sportfishing u spend more time looking back at baits than u do running the boat fwd. Yes, a constant vigil of looking over the shoulder becomes the common neck bender... seating for the operator would be a offset base with 360 swivel tractor seat . somewhat like sitting on a quad and straddling the bend of the podiums neck. steering and trans/speed controls would be accessible left and right, centered for ease of operation from both directions the offset base would allow correct centering from either direction... electronics would be left and right followed by teaser reels... there definetly is a need for a buggy top because of the heavy duty offshore sun hopefully to contain VHF and stereo... but might need to be lighter and just provide shade to keep the COG as low n centered as possible... end round 1

Mark 775.. I like the "SoapBox" ha ha ..... Yes the Aluminum pipe tower is a traditional approach but I am trying to apply 15 years on the bridge to the technology and materials that are available today.... I have read some of your posts on other threads and u r obviously not lacking in intelligence and common sense, but by the use of non traditional thinking lead to Columbus discovering the Americas, even though it was an accident !!!! LOL Knut Sand.. I like ur thinking, but don't find starring at a screen all day is a very productive fishing technique..even though it can be productive on a computer in a think tank. I don't consider myself overweight at 6'2" 205 lbs... but i agree there will be an effect on the vessel by windage and weight this is why i am trying to elevate with out constructing a heavy bulky traditional tower.. only trying to get the seat to about 7' this would put my line of site at or around 9-10'.... same that u would achieve by standing on the covering boards...this makes a huge difference at seeing billfish rather than standing flat on the deck...
