Speed coefficient

What is the meaning of the speed coefficient?
Why is it used for designing planing hulls?

Sorry, I though it was the name in English.

Speed Coefficient =(V/(L)^1/2)

When ship length is equal to wave length is 1,34

The non dimensional number of this coefficient is Froude number

It's also called speed/length ratio.
I agree it's not very interesting for planing hulls.

Chocomono; ...There are several "speed coefficients". As Raggi says the one you quoted is not applicable to planing hulls. But others are others, such as the volumnmetric speed coefficient, see the Series 62/64 papers.
