| Wow! N Pics.... the one on the far right top: is that a petrified viking ship? (Geez they had talent (and necessity) to build like that then!)

| Yes... It's in the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo. http://www.khm.uio.no/vikingskipshuset/index_eng.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking_Ship_Museum_(Oslo) These are burial finds from Oseberg and Gokstad. On the right the "mother" ship ![]() |

| Somewhat more modern design, a ship actually. Note however the resemblance of the dinghy (also in the first picture up in #1) to the one from the Viking era... The model of the Fram is made by Colin Archer himself reckon before the ship build took place (some differences on the superstructure etc). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fram http://www.fram.museum.no/en/ |

| In these later made models (by Nansen, Sverdrup and Amundsen) show some of the changes to the original (both in the building state and in later occasions).. |

| The construction methods used on the viking ships were remarkable. There are some Asian builders still using some of those methods today.

| Next door is http://www.norsk-sjofartsmuseum.no/ . The most versatile and also complicated of these museums. Several small boats, numerous models, machinery like this triple steam engine, signaling devices, galleys and much more... http://www.norsk-sjofartsmuseum.no/p...bkat=en&lang=2 |
