I had no idea what TEU stood for in DennisRB's graph so I googled:
Twenty foot Equivalent Units.
It's not really a mass, it's basically the footprint of a twenty foot container.

The total displacement of the 70,000DWT vessel is about 92,000(cubic metres).

Also found a publication by MAN diesel about ship propulsion, didn't read all but it states that 70% to 90% of a slow container ship drag can be due to skin friction.

In the graph the tonnage is DWT, which is the mass of cargo the ship can carry (it is the ships max displacement minus the weight of the ship). So a 70,000dwt ship can be loaded with 70,000 tons of cargo. TEU is a volume measure of how many containers can fit on the deck.
