I hope I didn't cause any issues. But I did ask for ideas and tips... As I said, Its my first boat and I have limited knowledge on boat building. I do however already own a kayak and a float tube and have been on many boats, deep sea and on the dam. I was obvioulsy not going to put a high deck, just one at water level with short swivel chairs.

Attached is a pic of what I was kind of going for. But obviously with a lower deck.

Anyway, any feedback is good feed back...

Tunnels, I'll definately post pics up once its done.... Hope to fly too... lol. Apparently the cathedral hull gets on the plane quiet easily.
Cause !! the faster they go the more air under so one thing leads to the other and the faster you go . If you are looking at a seat like the one in the picture rig a joy stick for the steering and a twist grip throttle like a motorbike on the end with a kill switch lanyard round ya neck incase you fall out !!
Have fun , be adventureous live life to the max and marry maxine !!

No offense taken messabout. I'd rather know the dangers involved up front, but as PaulA mentioned, most of these accidents occur because people take unnecessary and irrisponsible risks. I also mountain bike and kayak amongst other things and it really strikes a nerve when I read about some hero riding without a helmet who crashed and is now braindead... this happens all over the world. It just takes one fool to give a sport or activity a bad name. In South Africa the salt water rock and surf anglers are surrounded by a negative light because one or two of them get drunk, swear other beach goers and litter the beach with used bait and bottles etc. The truth is that 80% of fishermen don't do this, but the rep still applies to all... Thats the way of the world.

I'm by no definition a ''sailor'' or whatever the term might be, but I do have common sense. I'm definately not going to be doing anything stupid. But like Tom said, it got my attention....

Doc, I also thought about the pontoons but the problem there was that it would make the boat too big to transport in my vehicle...

Tunnels, I'll try that...

But for the greater part the boat will be slow cruising while I try to catch some nice fat bass, and other fish...

I would paint the inside with latex porch and floor enamel, put plywood hatches over where they were before and go with that. A cubic foot or two of flotation on each side in the back hatches and one in the front will provide positive flotation if you capsize or something. One seat with a swivel would work well for steering and fishing, mounted temporary or permanent on one of the side hatches, another might be mounted with a low pedestal in the center of the boat that would allow 360 degree turning.
I would consider a removable or permanent floor that would smooth out the humps of the cathedral hull, they would seem to be more of a hazard than anything when moving about inside the boat. Put a real small amount of fine sand in the paint for non-skid. Try to rent or borrow a motor to find out how much hp you need.

RE: pontoons

As a last resort, you could consider bolt on pontoons.

One cheap method of making cheap durable pontoons, but a bit small for ideal use, is to get a couple pieces of old inch ABS plumbing pipe.
A larger size pipe would be better.
Use some type of rod to pack it full of Styrofoam, something like the same material that Styrofoam Coffee cups are made. Many larger sizes of this Styrofoam are used to pack electronics stuff.
Break into pieces that you can pack tightly inside.
When full, use the ABS glue and glue end caps on.
drill through 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch holes for 3/8 inch or 1/2 inch threaded rod or bolts.
1/4 inch threaded rod is too week and bends too easy.

These will not stick out very far if attached close to the bottom of the hull, and will give a bit more safety floatation.
Do you have any alligator risks where you go ??

You have had a few good and silly things thrown in your dirrection pick the good and forget the rest , get used to what you have and change it acordingly to suit your needs , you will need plenty of seat time to get a feel for what you have created and with a can or two of dutch courage you can push the wee thing to the limit and come back to tell us all how it went .

You may want to put some foam or airtight containers for flotation wherever you have extra space. It should keep ur boat afloat so it doesnt sink to the bottom and keeps u afloat till someone can help you.
And you might even be able to get it straight by yourself.
