Selling price of 40 ft restored fishing boat?

Hi.A couple years back we finished a restoration on an old wooden Lobster style boat built in 1936.We originally did the project for fun,but are now interested in selling it and were curious what a boat like this might sell for?Just kinda want a few opinions on a ballpark asking price. Its approx.40 feet long x 11 wide. We completely rebuilt the cabin, gunwales and applied a heavy coat of Epoxy to the hull, coupled with fiberglass mat and roving..I know alot of folks dont like the idea of glassing a wood hull, but it has kept the hull watertight. Boat also is equipped with a good running diesel engine. No fancy electronics. So any idea's of a ballpark selling price??Thanks

A good marine surveyor specializing in wooden boats can give you a good ballpark sale and replacement cost. Also just about any buyer would want a recent survey as well. Out of curiosity, how much did it cost to glass your hull?

You could go the Dutch boats for sale website and see whether you can get something which matches approx your boat. You need to activate the english translater.

A good quick look would be at BUC.com and NADA.com. The actual market and replacement values are based on selling averages of boats that are similar in make, design, and size. Also factored in are the vessel's equipment, condition, and geographic location. This can easily be done by a qualified marine surveyor. The online websites mentioned above are only for ballpark figures.

Google-- Kijiji, Halifax, Nova Scotia--select under catagories--cars and vehicles--then select boats and watercraft. You should find a good cross section of silimar craft and prices. Off the top of my head without seeing a photo of your boat, quality of workmanship, engine/hours and drive set up plus based on prices for silimar craft here I would guesstimate between 10 and 15 thousand dollars.--Geo.
