Seeking Herreshoff Meadow Larks

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to compile a list of Herreshoff Meadow Larks and their location.

The Meadow Lark was L.F. Herreshoff's design #88 and was penned in the late 40's. His design goal was to create a crusing lengh sailboat with the least possable draft for sailing the waters of Florida and the Bahamas.

Over the years the Meadow Lark was produced in many different versions, home-built and manfactured, and in many different materals, wood, fiberglass, and steel.

The Meadow Lark's original design was 33' and was to be constructed in wood plank or plywood. The wooden version was featured Rudder and Wooden Boat Magazine. A 37' fiberglass version in was manufactured per order in Massicussitts in the 70's and early 80's, by Allan Vaitses.

If your a Meadow Lark owner, or know of one, and you would like to help, please email me at geosite@webtv.net, or post a reply here.

Many thanks,
Geo

hello geo
I built a Medowlark about 12 years ago. I worked at
Barlow's boat yard in Pocaset Mass. Bucky Barlow built the first meadow lark in the early 50's. This boat was the Loon, the boat featured in Sensible Crusing Designs.
What's your boat?

The Meadowlark you built, was she in wood or fiberglass? Do you know what ever happened to her?

Cheers,
