I’m looking into building a 12-14 foot lapstrake style outboard (15-30 hp) for fishing and cruising around the lakes.
Does anyone have any plan or book recommendations? :?:
Although this will not be my first build, it will be my first lapstrake type build, so I would like to find plans that are very well detailed.

Here is a link to a lapstake dink in the style that I like:

but, I plan to use a standard length outboard for power.

    Thank you. :)

    Baldur,

Nice looking boat, I suggest you try the woodenboat site have a look around there. They sell plans, and books with plans and I'm quite sure you'll find what you're looking for.

    SailDesign Old Phart! Stay upwind..

    Baldur,
That pic shows a boat that is WAAAAaayyyyyyyyyy too small for a 15hp outboard, let alone a 30hp. you would be best using a 5hp on that beastie. Cute boat, but not built for speed.

You are correct, maybe a 5hp is more realistic.
    Thanks

    Try John Welsford's 'Rifleman'

    and finally, http://www.jwboatdesigns.co.nz/plans/plans.htm

From your 'wish list' description it appears to be the ideal boat.

I forgot to mention - if you're going to build a Welsford boat - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jwbuilders/ is a very active support group of nearly 900 folks.

That "Rifleman" design is nice looking. It'd do well on salt water in fiberglass and seems to have a good amount of freeboard for all purposes.
