Seam leaks

The last problem I've run into with the aluminum skiff I've been fiddling with is that the gaskets in the seams at the chines, bow stem and transom are so dried out or cracked or both that they dripped continuously when I filled the hull with water. The bow dripping nearly stopped as the rest of the hull filled. Is there any chance these seals will swell and stop leaking on their own when rehydrated?

The hull isn't worth the cost and trouble of drilling out all the rivets and replacing the seals. Is there a good enough caulk to seal it up? Any suggestions on a method that could stop the leaks?
