Has anyone had problems with a sea craft sinking from excess water getting into the hull on a 32 ft sea craft. Any other problems to look for.

if you are worried about your boat sinking check to make sure it has addiquate bildge pumps and that they are working properly. Most sinkings can be prevented if a vessel had working/more bilge pumps. I suggest at least 1 pump per every 10 feet and one backup pump for every 2 primary pumps. It may seem like overkill, but I believe that too many pumps (percieved) is better (and cheeper) than having your boat sink and needing people like me (a marine salvage company) to raise it. All of my 30-40 foot boats have a minimum of six (6) bilge pumps, and we check them regularly. The only sinking we had was when a tornado put a tree and 18ft runabout through one of our salvage barges, the other boats managed to weather the storm and only suffer minor damage from debris. During this storm we did have one of our primary tugs get a 2x6foot tear in the hull and the pumps managed to keep the vessel afloat.

the problem has been water getting in through the through hull pipe in the back of the live well and through the floor pump out. the bildge pumps are working fine , but they are always running due to the problems.
