These requirements were loose with introduction of the engine power in these kind of traditional sailing fishing boats as the increasing of speed it made continuous 'splashing' on deck. For this reason the reverse stem line were abandoned on this kind of "Ligurian Gozzo".
But I am thinking at this lines for a more pleasant boat, not a working boat. So I like the idea.
Lovely boat this "Ligurian Gozzo"
The reverese bow gives a nice caractere.
How does it sail?centerboard or? With a small inboard it be great!!!

no centerboard, usually in the past they used to ballast the keel with sand bags, that they emptying when they came back to the beach with the fish load.
We talk about 4 to 6 mt long boats.
here the link about:http://www.deiva.net/gozzoligure.htm
but it is in Italian...sorry.
Now in Italy they use to make regattas with this kind of boats.

or www.velalatinacircuit.it
but it's became already an expensive sport!!

The Vikings was 1000 year ago the best boatdesigners in the world.
They always build reverese bows, the nordlandsbåt from Northern-Norway was 900 years later much similar to the vikingships and also have rev.bows It have worked very well over 1000 year so why change
