| For a given Speed, Required Power is proportional to Gross Weight. i.e. To maintain a given speed, if Gross weight increases by 25%, H P must also increase by 25% Hope this helps, Jango |

| shouldn't there be more? A displacement hull, carrying a gross wt of ??? requires ??? HP, to achieve a speed of ??? Kts sustained. A formula to get a basic ratio between gross tonnage & HP, THEN the need to increase the load to HP ratio of 1:1?. For every ton, it takes ?? HP, to go ?? Kts.
