Redesigning Keel

My Taiwanese PT35 with a single diesel does not have a keel design which protects the propeller or rudder should I hit something or go aground. In addition, the boat doesn't handle very well in a following sea. I've drawn up a different keel design but will not attempt to make any design changes without a NA's OK.
Can anyone recommend a NA in the Northeast U.S (I live in New York) who I might be able to hire to find out whether any design change is feasible?

I'm sure there are quite a few NA's around the NE/NY area. The first one that comes to mind is Dave Gerr..I believe he's in New York city.
