re 1043gt plotter

Hi Steve
Being new to the forum , I was surprized to see comments on large plotters
and your comments as regards your 1043gt. You may be able to advise me.
I myself have come into ownership of a calcomp 1043gt with the hope of doing some large plots . Unfortunatley it came with no instruction/service manuals. When I try to run it, it comes up with "vioce coil error". I wonder
if you have ever come across this type of error?.
Any comments would be appreciated.
many thanks
Roger

Roger,
Fraid I can't help you with that one. Mine has no manuals, either, although I'll try to find out if they stil exist in some dusty corner of the old owners' office. If successful, I'll let you know.
Steve

Just popping in,

I once was looking for the same thing.
I found a plotting service near to me, they did 1m x as long the pater get's (as a matter of speaking) they asked me 3 EUR/per long meter. So make the count yourself
even shipping included, this would be cheaper than the things you found so far?

You would have to provide the plotfile with the exact driver installed that's all.
I didn't try them out as now I will Have my frames NC Cut.

Greetings

I agree with all that mention nc cutting.
You pay almost as much for 1:1 drawings as for laser cutting!

Gentlemen,

I have a very nice HP 750C Plus color plotter on which I do all my plans and patterns on paper and Mylar. It cost a bundle (about the same as a small automobile), and I have to admit that it is underused. I also have a blueprint machine. I would be willing to try doing plots for plans and patterns for anyone. Looking at the prices of the materials and the handling labor, I can suggest starting at the following prices:

Translucent Bond and blueprints: US$0.50/sq.ft. (US$5.40/sq.M.)

Mylar, 3 mil (.003") double matte: US$2.00/sq.ft. (US$21.50/sq.M)

Shipping would be extra.

I cannot take credit cards, so payment would have to be cash, check, or wire transfer. If this service were to expand, I could see about doing credit cards later.

Plans can be submitted to me by email or on disk or CD in AutoCad .dwg format, or in .dxf format. If you have any special plotting instructions, you have to make them known. For example, some people may design different line widths for each color (as I do, I have my own settings) but most people would be happy with simply constant line width for all lines. Also, since it is a color plotter, I can print in color. Also, if you would like your plans on heavier, 20-lb opaque paper, I can do that also for the same price as the translucent paper. The nice thing about the translucent paper is that it will also give respectable blueprints.

The HP 750C Plus is 3' wide, so I can print up to E-size on sheets (3' x 4'), although I find that D-size (2' x 3') is a much easier size to read and handle. I can plot of rolls of media up to 50' long.

Strict confidentiality of designs would be observed. Drawings can be held for up to 10 days, and then they would be erased.

If anyone wants to pursue this service, please let me know privately at ewsponberg@sponbergyachtdesign.com.

If anyone would like me to post further general information, please reply to this forum.

Eric
