    rustybarge Cheetah 25' Powercat.

From memory the ST34 did 1.5mpg at 15kts, maxed out at 22kts on a single 420hp. They quoted 2.8mpg at 8kts...those are imperial gals.
    so that's 10gal/hr....45ltrs/hr at 15kts.....

Just guessing your running twin 200hp engines, make/capacity?

planing at 13kts, now that's a proper sea boat, none of that high speed BS.....!

PS: I am seriously impressed with your type of boat, they don't exist on this side of the pond.
Do you have any useful links to good sites?

    rustybarge Cheetah 25' Powercat.

    Very pretty.
No way, don't believe it's stitch and glue.

    Do you have any specs?

You have some really lovely boats over there in the states, much nicer than the European designs, not too sure about the cars though!

Nordic cruiser, pretty trailer boat from Holland.
This one's flying an Irish flag.
Magazine test quoted 9mpg at 8kts, now that's what I call good economy!

All three versions of the original Mainships were single engine. The early versions were 160HP Perkins and later versions a 200HP Perkins. I think the production run was over 1800 boats from 1977 to 1988. At 8 knts mine gulps about 4 GPH, 2 x 150 US Gal capacity.

This is the owners group, almost 2800 members.

Simple, roomy for 34ft with an awesome flybridge and a large head with separate shower, the reason my wife let me buy it.

I love the clean simple lines of the boats you showed earlier, but that cat looks like an overblown, cluttered toothpick holder with all those spikes and uprights.

    This is STROLLER.

Drawn by MR H back in the late 1920s

Bow cockpit and rear lounge /couch for the swells as they enjoy.

Today with flyweight hulls and flyweight diesel this could out perform most Picnic boats in both speed and style.

    rustybarge Cheetah 25' Powercat.

had a look for MS 34 in the UK, none for sale; but some of the bigger and later models are listed.

Thanks for the links, a really practical trawler boat that an average bloke could actually afford to buy and run.

cat design is fraught with problems, designing nice lines is very difficult; in fact twice as hard!! Just Look at the competition.:D
    This is a Leopard 51'...yuck!

Beautiful lines; hard to believe that's a 1920's design, still looks fresh and modern!!!!

Apply prudence! You don't have to go full speed in a chop.

Here is another example of the work I did to redesign a 21' Chris Craft Cobra. Double Take is the new boat with a new V-bottom. Next to it is Intoxication, an original 21' Chris Craft Cobra from 1955 which has the original flat bottom of the style of that era. The new version runs much better than the original. Both boats are now owned by the same owner (yellow shirt), who was my client and commissioned me for the new bottom design. During construction of Double Take, he bought Intoxication from the original owner (white shirt) who had owned it since new, buying it off the floor of the Chicago Boat Show in 1955.

The detail photos show differences in the bow and stern. The new bow has convex sections forward as opposed to the original design which had concave sections forward. The new stern has a 15° deadrise bottom aft whereas the original design had a very flat bottom aft.

The complete story of this redesign is on my website: http://www.sponbergyachtdesign.com/ChrisCraftCobra.htm.

It elegant, yet 'purposeful', design later became Germany's "S-boat".

Forward mounted engines gave it a "long hood" look favored by car stylists. I wonder how it effected the ride in choppy water.

    S-100 100tons, 114ft 3X2000hp 40+knts

Hull lines of S-boat S-26. Arguably a 'perfect' hull in that it is about the smallest semi-displacement hull that can approach the '50 knot barrier', while still being a seaworthy boat, all while various models went from 3X900hp to 3x3000hp with huge increase in displacement with little change in hull design. Added bonus: the design isn't copyright protected.[IMG] 1456 × 272 - prinzeugen.com

I figure any hull that can go from "luxury commuter" on a river to "fast attack" in the North Atlantic must have something going for it.

Just wondering what is the difference in the minimum planing speed between the original hull form, and the new vee shape.

Did this boat belong to Batman and Robin?:p

This company recently went into receivership and has been bought by an English boat builder, so hull mouldings are available and home finish kits.

Pretty boats 28' and 34' versions, single and twin.
