Naval Architecture of Planing Hulls by Lindsay Lord. Published by Cornel Maritime press last time in the early to mid 60's. Try http://www.abebooks.com/
Usually fairly expensive and some of the info is somewhat dated.

DuCane "High Speed Small Craft"

Much newer (1972) than Lord, also a very good book, also hard to find.

For the really technically minded there is a book on hydrodynamics (only) of power boats by Lawrence Doctors, out of University of Virginia. Blount and Koebel have one through SNAME as well, and there is the SNAME small craft CD.

Introductory level:

"Small Boat Design for Beginners" - Frank Bailey (1980) A.H. & A.W. Reed Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia ISBN 0 589 50203 4

It covers basic hydrostatics & planing theory, linesplans, powering, preliminary design. A good basic book.

SNAME CD

www.sname.org, then email the pubs director from the staff list, or 201 798 4800.

As to the other, google "Lawrence Doctor" AND virginia AND "naval architecture".

If that doesn't work, leave a message and I'll look into it further for you.
