| Portable Pontoon-In-A-Can boat design (see pic) Portable Pontoon-In-A-Can boat design concept: (See pic below) I am wondering if this concept will work: Assembled: An pontoon that has 2 aluminum pontoons and for example 3 aluminum T-bars for crossbar support and either a 1 or 2 piece square fabric platform. (Possibly 4th crossbar across the other 3 to attach swivel stools...) Packed: One aluminum pontoon is slightly smaller than the other and will slide into the other for storage. Eg.: 18 inch and 17.5 inch. Both pontoons have a screw-on-cap (maybe 7 threads to keep it water tight) so you can open them and place the crossbars and fabric platform and straps and 2 oars inside. Pontoons are simply cylinders and come to a cone at the front. Thinking of 400 pounds of weight to support (2 men, fishing tackle in slow river or pond). I was thinking of using 3 rubber straps on each pontoon to attach the 3 crossbars or something for support. I was thinking that the screw-on-caps must be strong, so that even with pressure and heat on the pontoons, I can still unscrew them after 3 hours on the water. Some type of handle on the caps for hand-torqueing. Possibly a small wheel clip-on to the cap could help move it around like a wheel barrow. Will it float, is it feasible, where can I get parts..? thanks, Last edited by danv : 08-10-2004 at 11:26 AM. |
