Pontoon boats, do they have to have a wall around the boat?

I just bought a pontoon boat and would like to cut the front of the "Cage" off to make it more open. Any idea if that is legal. btw im in tennesseee

The only thing I know of is a law that says children under a certain age must wear a PFD if on the "bow". You might be increaseing the bow area by removing the rail.
There are all kinds of floating craft, doing all sorts of jobs. Is this to facilitate net handling or access for work be performed? As long as adults occupy that area while the boat is moving, you should be OK.
