plan transfer

I am wanting to transfer a cutting plan for a simple canoe from a .dxf file to a sheet of ply. How do I go about measuring points in order to get the correct curves and lengths. The file shows the layout in the sheets of ply but it has no point to point measurements, so I need to know how to draw it from the plan onto the sheets. Is there a webpage that can help or do I need more software ? Please help

Otherwise does anyone know of free plans for a canoe suitable for fishing , around 14' long from ply. (with a cutting lay out plan)

Gaffa You need to transfer .dxf file into a cad programme from there you can manipulate the drawing to the right measurements. I use Designcad as it allows you to set unites of measurement between two points which scales the whole drawing to that distance. Then set centrelines and take off offsets for each curve or point.

Rhino

Download a copy of Rhino. It gives you enough saves to draw a grid and dimension your critical points. Transfer these points to the plywood and use a batten to fill in the blanks.

Rhino reads and writes many file formats, incuding DXF.
