Need some wise advice with volvo outdrive!

Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum and what got me into going through the enduring process of registering and everything is this one question I have for ya fellas.

HOW DO YOU WINTERIZE A VOLVO OUTDRIVE?! Or rather, is there any official or unoffical websites with access to the volvo 280 outdrive manuel? I had just brought my "new to me" boat just this summer and have little experience with winterizing sterndrives. However, I do have decent knowledge with the engine and how the boat's propulsion works, just ain't got any clue on maintanence with I/Os though. FYI: I don't have a volvo engine to go with the outdrive, however, I do have a nice, racy 351 chev to boot. I don't know if that would change anything concerning winterizing and oil changes. Anybody here with experience with their small-block chevs and volvo outdrives?

Thanks guys for replying, don't be shy!

David

Go to www.iboats.com and read the forum section on Mercruiser engines. That is this months main subject.

Volvos have the raw water pump in front of the engine. The easiest way to get antifreeze in is to disconnect the hose that goes through the transom shield and pour into there while the engine is running at operating temperature. Keep the drive down so rain or melted snow doesn't accumulate in the exhaust cavity and propeller hub.
