| need help - looking for plans for old popular science plywood boat Some time ago I bought a cd with plans for plywood boats, the old popular science, and in a building plan there is a boat giving details on how to plank in plywood. The picture shows a boat that I have been unable to find the plans for. Just wondering if any of you might be able to identify this boat, looks like a 12ft - 15ftr

| I'd almost swear those are a couple of pictures out of an old Glen-L how-to publication. Try their website.

| Looks like the ubiquitous runabout designs of the fifties and sixties. This is a boat whose main purpose is to go swiftly with the modest power available in those days. You may not like the reality that it will pound pretty badly at speed. A fishing boat it ain"t. But it is a sporty looking little boat that would be fun to play with. |

| Yea messabout but it will get into the shallows. I'll bet with a 40 on her she would draw about 4-6 in. All I need to do is get across the bays and into the backwaters. boatmanpaul what design is that I will see if it's on this cd I have but I don't think it is. Hey guys thanks for all your help I really appreciate it, Bruce

| If I am not mistaken that boat is in a book called "The Boy Mechanic" By Popular Mechanics and published from 1919 with revisions to the mid 60's. I have the book but lent it to my father earlier this year. He does not live close. |

| Here at Glen-L is a pictorial how-to on building a boat with plywood. Although those exact photos aren't in it, it looks like the same guy and the same boat to me. http://www.glen-l.com/methods/plywood/mthdpw01.html If it is the same one I'm sure you can email Glen-L, ask them what boat plan it is, and see if it's still available. I wouldn't be surprised if those pictures were used in several different magazines and publications over the years....

The link I posted was to another website, www.instantboats.com . I don't believe BMP is a member of Boat design. Here is what he wrote in his first post: From boatmanpaul... I picked ACE, a design by William Jackson. This design was used as a basis for the SandeAce boats built in the "50's and "60's. You can see them at http://WWW.Sandeace.com Amazing how similar all the posted boats are designed! It must have been a very popular boat in its day to merit all the copies. I wonder who designed the original... |

| I pulled up ACE from Svenson's and yea it looks close enough that I will try to stretch it to 14ft. I e-mailed glen l to see if it is in fact is their boat. I'm still searching though, and once again thanks for all the input from you fine folks. And GTO my apologies for mixing you up with boatmanpaul...
