    You may want to consider adding a chine and have a slight vee bottom. I just know that flat bottoms are terrible at slamming in waves. It shouldn't be too much work to make the boat have a vee bottom and the benefits will be huge. Vee bottom will also help in handling as it will help the boat hold its direction. Hope this helps and good luck with the project!
