Move that bow !!

[size="4"]
[/Does the front of the "lanteen" sail act like a "jib" and help to come about ?
Would this be the case with a "Dhow" type sail ?
Does the front of the sail (bow) swing to port and stbd. as the main sheet does ?
How does the Dhow type sail work ?
Just trying to figure this out as I like this type of ssail
Thanks in advanceSIZE]

It works similarly to a lug sail. The center of effort is closer to the mast than a marconi. Also, the pressure of the wind on the forward part balances the pressure on the back. This takes some of the force from the sheet.
