| Mounting of shaft brackets How are shaft brackets (like in the picture below, the upper right one type - only much larger, approximatelly 1m in length) mounted to the hull? ![]() Ughm, I mean ... how are they structurally (oh, boy - my english) fixed? I assume there is a thick plate inside the shell fixed to the transverse frames, and maybe brackets which hold it to the centerline girder? Or am I completely off ... ? |

| It depends on the bottom structure, the length of the shaft, horsepower, propeller diameter, etc.

| For examples, look at blueprints. The installation of shafts and struts is part of the whole design. Studying existing designs is a good way to learn. Looking at the photo you posted, the only safe thing to say is that they will have bolts through the holes. Other than that, there isn't a generic installation.
