looking for a pratical training in boat design

hallo,
my name is tom and I am 19 years old.
I live in berlin/germany and I go to an art oriented high school.
I am really interessted in art and sports like surfing and sailing.
when I have finished school I like to study design, but
first I want to do a practical training
in a design company so Ilearn about how to design a boat and
everything I have to know in order to make a proper decision.
my question is, if somebody knows where I can make a
a practical training for boatdesign between june and august this year.
it doesn`t matter where I have to go as I am quit flexible.
as a kind of compensation I would also do some work for
the company who gives me a chance.
I would be really graetfull if you can send me some ideas.

thank you very much in advance

regards tom

Tom,

Three months is not nearly enough time to learn the practical aspects of boat design. The best program that I know of for your situation is The Landing School (www.landingschool.org) in Kennebunkport, ME. They gladly accept foreign students. Their resident boat design and boat building programs all run one academic year, from Sept to June. And that time is really packed with lots of information. You get lots of practical experience with boat design, both by hand and by computer. I used to serve on the Program Advisory Board for the Design Program, and so know the school very well.

Good luck,

Eric
