Keel

How does any boat builder determine
keel placement size and shape.
Is there a relation to mast base, mast hight,
center of force on sails etc.? What is the formula?
Someone must know. Help anyone!

Thanks

The builder uses a set of plans provided by a designer/NA whom does the engineering.

There are hundreds of formulas and calculations required for even the most basic of vessels. Starting with a hull form that floats with the deck facing up is a good jumping off point . . .
