| What we have here, by the sound of it, is a classic case of the downside to 'modular construction'. Everything is is laid up and built as separate modules and then installed into the boat - often with little consideration given to access and repairs further down the track. I'd suggest that you track down someone in the repair business who's had quite a bit of experience with your type of boat (and being a Bayliner, there should be plenty of those! ...sorry, couldn't help myself...). Explain what the problem is and ask for advice as to how they might go about fixing it. Drilling holes in the bottom of your boat is a pretty drastic step to take if you don't know if it's necessary...

| Bayliner's Hi! I don't want to be mean or anything, but we are not having problem because it's a Bayliner... If you knew the history of the boat, you would say otherwise... Before we bought it, it had been on blocks for 9years! The engine was not winterized correctly and that's why it was stored... We purchased the boat, knowing that the boat had not been in the water for a while... We did what we had to and the boat is great... if you would have seen what it looked like before you would have set fire to it! We saw potential... It's not even recognizable! We when put the boat in the water, we knew the engine had something, but my husband knows his way with engines and he fixed part of the problem... There was a rocker that was not hooked. The engine which had a defective cylinder without us knowing what was wrong with it, lasted for 95hours! And before, we had a Doral Citation 1985... I don't have enough of a week to tell you all the problems we had with it.... It is now a total loss and the problems are still not over with it.. So in short, it's not the make of the boat that can cause problem, it's who you are dealing with for the different repairs that needs to be done... But did you know that the owner of the Bayliner company is the hull builder for Sea Ray and Doral??? I didn't mean to be a bit**, sorry if it sounded like that, I just wanted to let you know a bit of what had happened to me.... Mel |

The boat will be in a garage for the next 2 days or so... Hopefully, since it's a heated garage, the ice will melt and the water will go away... I have actually seen something that looks likea drain, but it looks blocked by something... It's hard to access it, but I will work on it! BTW, I hope nobody thought that I was mean on my previous message... :-( thank you all for your help! Mel |
