Hi guys, i'm trying to find a good book about developing a good lines plan...many do have a chapter on the argument but don't really describe the process step by step, developing a good lines plan can by hand can take a week and can't be explained in 2 pages!
    ANy suggestion?

Although it is primarily focused on older "classic" styles of yachts - wooden ones at that - Howard Chapelle's book "Yacht Designing and Planning" (W.W. Norton & Company, New York, 1936, revised 1994) has an excellent 100+ page dissertation on the subject. It is available at most good marine bookstores in North America, or can be ordered through various on-line bookstores.

    Saunders

Saunders "Hydrodyanics in Ship Design" has a example of developing lines plans as part of a "worked example" in a ship design. It is a commercial ship, but the principles and process is the same.

Saunders also has very readable information on most aspects of hydrodyamics. Though it's expensive, it's worth it. (3 big volumes)

The Common Sense of Yacht Design by L. Francis Herreshoff, Caravan Books, 1966 edition. This book covers the logic and reason of developing lines in a logical and purposeful manner by the Wizard of Bristol. Whether you agree or not, you will thoroughly understand which line to place when and why you are doing it. Intended for sailing yachts, it applies equally well for power boats because it describes the "philosophy". It is old but still correct. Good luck.
