| Kite assisted yacht traveling at planing speed Hi everybody in this forum, I registered here because I like to get your opinion about my idea of traveling over the ocean on a yacht which is purely powered by renewable energy sources. This yacht would be powered * mainly by kites achieving high speed (planing) mode at strong winds, but also * by propellers (driven by electric engines supplied by solar charged batteries), if there's no or little wind. You find all details at my website: http://renvistec.com/kiteboat.html I'm aware that kites of the size required for planing cruise are not available today. Yet I would like to get your opinion about the concept and my draft calculation. Please feel free to download the .html page of the calculation, open it with e.g. Excel and play around on your own. Any feedback is highly appreciated! Thanks and regards, Hans-Peter P.S.: as I'm not a native English speaker (Im from Germany), you may encounter inappropriate wording. Sorry for that. |
