Killer whale yacht.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/07/29/y...ale/index.html

The comments section is entertaining.

In particular, "I pray that people with money acquire taste and people with taste acquire money. It is rare to find an individual with the entire package." -- Zina

Now, to you designers out there: How practical is it to use abstract art as a design strategy for yachts? And how do you avoid the outcome in the link above?

right Manie.
That happens every time when a "Architect" gets loose from the chain. Impressive to notice that they already know prices. I bet both arms they doŽnt know how to build it (but prices are known).

Not only that, but the killer whale yacht is the first boat design by that company.

I stand by the comment I posted, about money and taste.

I don't mind an innovative, nontraditional design, but get serious.

Get that part in writing. Everyone knows killer whales spend most of their time under the water.

Hey, you gotta distinguish your $95M yacht from all the other $95M yachts out there.
These aren't ocean crossers, are they? More likely they're meant to be moored front and centre at the classiest marina in the ritziest part of town, and taken on mostly coastal trips. The owner flies in (hence the helicopters) to use it for a week or so now and then.

"Architect on acid", as it's sometimes known when land-based designers get serious about really weird-looking stuff....

I hope you enjoy all renderings of the Oculus. I just posted those in the gallery section. Don't shoot the messenger, we visualizer your designs! Curious what you all say about the new style and design.

i am in the building trade and i see all these "architects" that are out of work, sure i feel sorry for them and sure they have a right to look for other work, but please stop drawing ****, use the time productively to search for other employmment, there are way too many youngsters out there can can do cool renderings. Stop dreaming about getting rich overnight, where you can build a mega yacht for some supper rich oil arab and sail of into the sunset with him and a dozen pommie prostitutes. It aint gonna happen.

I mean the next space cadet is already on these pages with his Z40 Roadster, farkit this guy has all the time in the world to write miles of crap - jeez fella get a life and go and watch porn or some thing

and yes i am still hunting for crew

Welcome Tangram
I agree with Manie's 1st post...
Great renderings
Fugly boats.

On the upside, most superyacht designs are the result of collaboration between a number of parties... at least one of which usually has some sort of clue about naval architecture...
