how about powerful acid into ballast tanks, then buffer

with mild alkali?

The acid would turn the crust into soup, then the alkali would make the soup non-toxic and dis chargeable.

Yeah, you need to work out how you add the alkali without turning your boat into an acid-bomb.

I would've thought there would be a way of dealing with anything like that, such as seaweed, fishing nets, etc.

What if this happened on lee shore with high winds or something.

In other news, Jellyfish populations set to increase.
They needed a hovercraft, pretty simple.

Kach22i, I've always thought an air-cooled car type radiator

on a boat could solve a lot of problems I keep hearing about.

However, most marine engines tend to run at a far higher "duty cycle" and I don' t think most auto cooling systems could keep up...but even double radiators of automotive cost would be cheaper than anything "marine" spec-ed.
