The People’s Choice Award for 2007 went to “Jack,” a 1929 28-foot triple cockpit Chris Craft boat owned by Jack Beatley of Columbus. Mr. Beatley reported that there are 15 known boats of this model still on the water. These boats were manufactured in 1929. At that time the boat sold for $7,400. Model A cars retailed for $450 and an average home price was $2,500, making the boat quite the luxury item of its day. Sue Pitts, Bellefontaine Examiner July 23, 2007
