Imperial draught marks

    Dear all,

    Can anyone help on how to locate imperial draught marks on a merchant ship

    As with any other type of numbering. The lower edge of the number marks the value of draft indicated by that number.

    Draft marks are located at the ends of the vessel and sometimes amidships.

    For marks in Imperial units, the numerals are usually 6" (one-half foot) high with a 6" gap between marks. This allows one to estimate drafts to approximately 0.25-0.50 foot.

    As TANSL said, the lower edge of the numeral corresponds to the draft indicated.
