| IACC Rule DSP limits The formula for the rated Length (L) and Sail area (S) L = LM*(1+2000*(LM-22.1)^4) S = SM*(1+0.0001*(SM-320)^4)) LM L 22.15 22.426875 22.14 22.2533568 22.13 22.1658506 22.12 22.1270784 22.11 22.1104422 22.1 22.1 22.09 22.0904418 22.08 22.0870656 22.07 22.1057534 22.06 22.1729472 22.05 22.325625 22.04 22.6112768 limiting possible values of LM, whether larger or smaller than 22.1, and similarly for possible values of SM, again whether larger or smaller than 320. This has the effect of limiting DSP to not less than approx. 23750? L + 1.25 X S^2 - 9.8DSP^3 <= 24*0.686 Is this what the rule intended, or just incidental due the mathematics of ^4? Thanks, JBoat |
