Gerald I will second your opinion on the high speed effieciency inboard diesel
with loads of power but not every one can afford this kind of equipment to start out we need a budget for this boat do you want to spend $100000 or 100000 meti cash If you have been to Mozambeque you would understand.
You litraly hold out a wod of cash and the shopkeeper will judge the amount by the feeling the thikness of the pile. Must say that things have change mozambeque is now dollar based.

Trouty, your remarks cut wood. 40 divers on board is asking for troubles.
I went diving in Marocco with the guys from the US navy and already with 4
I had a hand full.
Let it be 40!

For 40 divers you need a large boat with all the equipment to cater in case of emergencies. I think ouside you, trouty, nobody has an idea what is required.

With so many divers on board, accidents are imminent. You need not only a good ship but also adequate equipment when an emergency arrives.

You are talking about VERY expensive equipment and an expensive boat.

If you have a budget of say 600.000,- + dollars/euro's then you might get
to something.

You need to do more homework.

Look again at my first link...

Quote:
Currently in 1C survey for 36 passengers and 4 crew this vessel is powered by 4 of the economical 225 Yamaha 4 stroke outboards, she has a top speed of 34 knots and will cruise at 18-20 knots very economically all day long
40 ft, 10 divers & 20 tanks, easey - with room for more if needed!... Price $300K Aus...which in Euro is maybe...~$150K??? This boat has 4 x 225 Hp Outboards or 900 Hp!!!

This is worlds best quality, commercial, surbveyed, built, naval architect designed, custom for diving - there is not 'better cheaper' anywhere else!

40 ft = not 500 Hp in two x 250Hp's. Underpowered!

Fuel effieicent is NOT underpowered! Safe is NOT underpowered!

Keep looking!

Cheers!

So, are we buying a boat or are we designing and building it ?
Ill go with designing and Building a forty foot boat any day,
then again i am a designer builder.
Lets go with a 40 ft cat and with two 600 hp Diesel inboards motors. Chuck a few steps in the hull and see how far we go with the $100 000.00 (Budget)
I checked out the display at the Volvo stand and they had some pretty impressive stuff when it comes to drives.

Who's doing the costing ?
