Rendering

A common program used for Rendering is Rhinos Flamingo. There are many others, but in the commercial boat design world Flamingo would be one of programs at the top.

Many of the regulars here have posted their favourite design programs on the annual poll at Best Marine Design Software for Hull Modeling? (2007)
There's a corresponding poll for freeware at Best Free or Low Cost Marine Design Software? (2007)

i'd wonder which application is in common use in the area of yacht hull design.
i used AutoCAD and CATIA in college and know a little about maxsurf and tribon.but i never heard those applications ROO and LAZEYJACK mentioned. shame T_T
i know little about this area but it is so beautiful,i mean those designs.

Bertelli83,
Gday sport, Im currently studying yacht design through the MacNaughton school of yacht design, they have about 500 students studying with them. Its one of the largest small yacht and boat design schools in the world. They recommend Rhino 3D to design yachts, Flamingo to render the drawings. Flamingo is an add-on to Rhino 3D so you have to buy Rhino.
http://www.rhino3d.com
It comes in about 9 different languages but no Turkish.
You can design anything with it, its not easy to learn but maybe Im a slow learner. You can buy a student version for about $195.00 US, and Flamingo will cost the same again. You can design yachts, space monsters, cars you name it. I beleive its accurate to about 9 decimal places. I personnely use Delftship (Freeship) to design my yachts hulls because its free (although Ive now bought the commerical version) and I export them into Rhino 3D to finish them off and render them with Flamingo for the pretty advertising pictures.
I tried Maxsurf its a great program but you can only design yachts and ships and the student version only allows 3 sides, example: hull, kell and rudder and the full version is expensive. Hope this is of some help but your proberly more confussed then ever. But try not to box yourself in with your software, theres more to life then pretty boats. And with Rhino 3D you can even design your perfect woman, try doing that with Maxsurf or the others.

Here is an excerpt from Westlawn course material on using Apple Macintosh computers:

As for Macintosh, I prefer Mac over all other operating systems. Having lived with both Windows and Mac side by side on my desk for years now, I can tell you that the Mac system is superior in every way. Unfortunately, there is virtually no marine-design software available for the Mac. There are some fine general CAD programs—Power CADD, VectorWorks, Ashlar Vellum. Another program that might be of use for developing hulls on the Mac is TouchCAD, (www.touchcad.com) You can try and make a Mac fit your boat-design needs, but my office was forced to abandon it. Though I wish it weren’t the case, Windows-based PCs are the only computers that will provide you a wide selection of marine-design software.

There is a new development which may allow you to use a Mac. This is Parallels Desktop software for Mac. Parallels runs true Windows on a Mac, and so allows you to run all that PC-only software native. The requirements are your Mac must be powered with an Intel chip and must run OS X. Reports are that a Mac running Parallels Desktop (Windows on a Mac) is as fast as running the Windows apps on a standard PC. It is possible, however, that there might be some input/output glitches, with printer ports, and network drives, and such. Still, it is worth a look if you already own a suitable Mac and want to save money.
